HISTORY

Govt. College of Nursing Alappuzha is located in T.D. Medical College campus. Govt. College of Nursing, Alappuzha started functioning on 4th December, 2006. The inaugural function of the College and the laying of foundation stone of new college building were held on 21st January 2007. Dr. Sreekumary D was the first Principal of the College.

The first batch of 60 B.Sc. Nursing students was admitted on 23rd January, 2007. The College has 4 batches of B.Sc. Nursing students and a batch of interns during an academic year.

VISION & MISSION

The faculty of Govt. College of Nursing, Alappuzha believes that, Nursing is an art and a science. The educational process of this institution is geared to provide opportunities for students to meet individual learning needs, to nurture abilities like critical thinking, independent enquiry, resourcefulness, interpersonal relations and communication and to excel in both personal and professional spheres of life. The faculty also recognize the need for overall and continued development of students and keep them abreast with the periodic changes in Nursing and allied Health Sciences and Technology.

OBJECTIVES

Prepare professional nurses to provide comprehensive health care to patients with commitment and compassion.
Develop professional nurses to render service in different levels of Health care delivery system.
Mold student as an individual citizen and as a prospective member of the profession in order to uphold the dignity of the Profession.

Since its inception in 2006, Govt. College of Nursing, Alappuzha is striving to impart high quality education to our students at under graduate and post graduate level to prepare them to face the challenges of today’s changing health care scenario. ഭരണഭാഷ പൂർണ്ണമായും മലയാളമാക്കുക എന്ന സർക്കാരിന്റെ പ്രഖ്യാപിത ലക്ഷ്യം കൈവരിക്കുന്നതിനും ഭരണരംഗത്ത് മലയാളത്തിന്റെ ഉപയോഗം വ്യാപിക്കുന്നതിനുമായി സർക്കാർ വിവിധപരിപാടികൾ ആവിഷ്കരിച്ച് നടപ്പിലാക്കിവരികയാണ്. ഇതിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി ഈ സ്ഥാപനത്തിലെ എല്ലാ ഉത്തരവുകളും സർക്കുലറുകളും കത്തിടപാടുകളും പരമാവധി മലയാളഭാഷയിൽ ആക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഭരണം പൊതുജനങ്ങളുടെ ഭാഷയിലായിരിക്കണമെന്ന സർക്കാർ നയം നടപ്പിലാക്കുന്നതിന് സഹായകമാകുന്നതരത്തിലുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളുടെ ഭാഗമായാണ് കോളേജിന്റെ ഔദ്യോഗിക വെബ്സൈറ്റും മലയാളഭാഷയിൽക്കൂടി ലഭ്യമാക്കുന്നത്‌.

GOVT. TD MEDICAL COLLEGE

Govt. TD Medical College is the 1^st Medical College in the state which was started in 1963 under Private Management .This Medical College is situated in the suburban area of Vandanam, 9 km south of the Alappuzha (previously Alleppey) town, facing the NH 47, in Alappuzha district of Kerala State, South India. The initials T.D. stand for Thirumala Devaswom, which in Sanskrit means belonging to the Lord of Thirumala, under the patronage of the T.D. Temple at Anantha Narayana Puram of Alappuzha. The first batch of MBBS classes were started in August 1963 for 50 students.
